Hola Familia y amigos! Esta semana fue MUY Buena! I honestly had the best week ever! We had 3 baptisms this week and a wedding! I honestly never knew how much hard work goes into putting a wedding together outside the United States. It was such a headache and so confusing for me haha but luckily my companion knew what she was doing. Margarita and Javier are amazing! And they have the cutest little daughter Yaretzi and Yeritzia (Talk about confusing names! And people think the Ms in my family are bad!) They have been taking the missionary lessons for a few months now and go to church every week but never recieved the answer that the church was true. Finally they both recieved the answer two weeks ago but then the headache started of helping them live the Law of Chastity and getting married. There were so many prayers answered and so much help from people all over the state of Veracruz to get everthing in order and then on Thursday morning they were married in Jamapa and then in the afternoon they were baptized! It was honestly such a great day! I don't know if I've ever smiled as much as I did that day and seeing the change in them. It was so amazing and I cannot wait for next year when they go through the temple!
Last sunday I randomly got asked to play the piano in sacrament meeting. Haha The first hymn was a song that doesn't even exist in English - Thank goodness for Mrs. Terry teaching me how to sight read!
Tuesday we had lunch with a member Israel and his family at a resturant. Israel was on the Mexican version of Dancing With the Stars and has a dance studio in our ward. It makes me laugh every time we walk by it because it's got the greatest dancing pop stars pictured in the windows...Michael Jackson, Madonna, Elvis AND The Mask. hahah Jim Carrey. Anyways Isreal is awesome and he took all four of us missionaries in the ward to a resturant where we ate sea food. He ordered for us and we all got this big bowl with all kinds of different fish but mainly shrimp and octopus. It's the first thing that i have not liked at all here...But I ate it! Most of it anyways haha
Conference was amazing! It was so great and I honestly loved every talk! Hermana Jensen and I watched it in a different room in the chapel on a ward member's lap top in English which I was so grateful for. I honestly loved every talk and found so many parallels in each talk. I especially loved the Sunday morning session and after the session when we came out and met up with the ward members Mateo and Dulce were there! They are amazing investigators that we have been trying to get to church since we got here in Costa Verde. Dulce is 8 and is SO excited about baptism it is so adorable but Mateo doesn't ever want to go to church so they can't progress. Saturday night we visited and said that if they didn't come to church the next day we would have to stop teaching them which broke my heart! But sunday came and they were there! It was a conference miracle! He really loved conference and especially liked President Uchtorfs talk about Gratitud. And he is really excited to come back next week as well as Dulce! It was so amazing!
And then after conference we had the baptism of Ruperto. Ruperto is someone we contacted in my first few days here and he has been so excited and ready for baptism from the start. It was so awesome to see him be baptized! I love being a missionary and playing a small role in the conversion process of people here, I feel so blessed and am so grateful for the opportunity to serve and be here in Veracruz!
