Hola! This week was a Little bit different, celebrating my birthday, Mothers Day, and we had a big conference with the Hermanas this week too. It was definitely a fun filled week!
On wednesday we had the conference with the Hermanas. All 52 of us Hermanas! And growing more and more with every transfer! Haha the conference was great but by far the best part was seeing Hermana Ledek! My companion from the MTC. She's serving right now in Orizaba which is about 3 hours away from my área in the city. It was so great to see her! It was so hard to listen to the conference and not just talk. The conference was awesome though and I learned a lot. One of the best parts was when President used Frozen's "Do You Want To Build A Snowman" to talk about the relationship we should have with our companion. We got to watch the video which was a tiny bit different in Spanish but still made me so happy, and it was great too because I've told Hermana Acevedo about it and that she needs to watch it when she gets home and now she's really excited. She made me explain the whole story from start to finish haha
My birthday was a crazy day! We were supposed to have our 3 hour planning but instead had to go to the immigration office for Hermana Acevedo's visa. (Which I was honestly a little happy about, sometimes the 3 hour planning is a little too long haha) So we had a different day of adventures on the way to the immigration with a few other missionaries. We were sitting talking waiting for an Hermana from Nicaraqua to finish her fingerprints on the third floor when suddenly all the people started running frantically down the stairs. I honestly was so freaked out to see scared people running for the doors in the Immigration office. Luckily all it was was an earthquake. Apparently they felt it really strongly on the upper floors and all the members and people we saw said the same thing that it was really strong but I didn't feel anything. There's been a few earthquakes since I've been here but I never feel anything. Maybe that's a good thing but I almost feel deprived haha So we were able to finish but there and then headed to Leonora's house to eat lunch. She's 16 years old and has only been a member for less than a year but is so amazing. She had a special meal planned for my birthday!..Mole. Which is like everyone's favorite meal here but for us from the USA we just pretend to love it haha It's this sauce made from chili and coco powder We ate that and I got a little dingdong and blew out a candle and then after they had a "surprise" where we went to Karen's house with a bunch of other members where we had cupcakes that she had made with Nutella because she knows how much I love Nutella haha it was a lot of fun.
Later we taught some lessons with our Ward Mission Leader and another member of the Ward and committed Plutarco to babtism! He is an awesome investigator that we've been working with for about a month now. He had a lot of problems with the Word of Wisdom but has been able to turn around and leave it behind and he's progressing so much. We used the story of the Anti-Nephi-Lehies and them burying their weapons of war in the Book of Mormon to help motivate and help him with the Word of Wisdom and now he is so pumped about the Book of Mormon and all the stories. It's been so fun to watch him progress and it was a great birthday present for him to commit to baptism on my birthday. We visited Margarita and Javier and their adorable little family which was also an amazing birthday present. And for dinner we ate with a family at a little café, they are both returned missionaries so they were excited to help make my day a little more special.
Yesterday we ate with the Family Medel, a family that was baptized a couple weeks ago and we went to their house that's about 30 minutes out of the city for lunch and had a great time visiting with them and then I got to talk to my family! It was an amazing day.
