The week I almost got sent home...But literally! I almost got sent home! My visa expired and we had to go to Veracruz - they asked a bunch of questions (Such as, "Why are you here" "How did you get here" "Why did your Visa expire" "Why do you want to renew it" And about 100 more haha) But don't worry! We all made it through the test! It was such a blessing though to go to Veracruz and see my sisters Hermana Jensen and Hermana Ledek. I don't know what my mission would be without them. And from there - miracle tras miracle happened. I can't even believe how merciful and loving is our Heavenly Father!! I have had the feeling for months now that I need to visit Margarita and Javier. (The family we taught that got baptized last year!) But obviously I can't just take a bus to Veracruz to go visit. But especially when I found out that Margarita's son died. I've been hurting for her and praying that for some reason or in some way I could see her. And then when we were heading back to San Andres from Veracruz and there wasn't another bus for 2 hours - I knew God was making the way. We called and I got permission (I'm still not sure how I got permission) And we went off in a taxi to see Costa Verde. My old home. It amazes me how much I've changed in a year - But Costa Verde almost hasn't changed a bit. We got there to Margarita's house and we asked if she was home - The Señora told us that she was working but that we could pass by to see her mother-in-law. But there she was!! It felt so good to talk to her for a few minutes. To give words of comfort and remind her that the blessings of the temple are waiting for her and her family. (Oh how I pray that they can make it to the temple!) Then we went running from her house to see if we could find Ruperto and Guadalupe (Norma) And who should I find in the street?? But them both!! Actually they found me - we ran into the sis. missionaries and started talking to them and I got attack hugged by Guadalupe! " TERRRYYY! " haha It was the best moment. And then Ruperto drives by in his car. The best part? It was his birthday! He saw me and said "This is my present!" In that moment it clicked in my brain that it was his birthday (the 27th of March) And I had to remind him he couldn't give me a hug haha Ahhh it was just such a blessing. I know that God loves us and will bless us with tender mercies when we need it most. Other blessings/miracles of the week? Jose Albañil got the Melquezedec preisthood this week!! We got to be there when they set him apart. I am so proud of this future missionary! I have no idea why sometimes life is hard and it feels like nothing goes right - and sometimes you have weeks where you feel like you're walking on clouds and God blesses you in every minute. The important thing that I've learned (A part from the fact that it is so we can learn) is that we just have to always be positive. If we're positive and we keep the faith - everything will work out. God loves us - We're his children! He will bless us with what we need and sometimes he lets us be the blessing that others need. I am so grateful for the chance to serve my Heavenly Father and invite His children to be with Him. It's the greatest blessing I've ever recieved. Have a great week! Thanks for all your love and support! Hermana Terry And this week I almost got sent home! Not - I had to go to Veracruz for my Visa. But I saw Hermana Jensen and Hermana Ledek! It was the best! It is always a reunion when we see each other. I love these girls so much :) Margarita, Silvia, Hamain and Yerexia all grown up! ! :) Guadalupe and Ruperto My district. We had a district activity where our district leader told us - You've got 15 minutes to go and get an animal and bring it to the class. And our church is on the way out of town not near anything. At first we had no clue what to do - and then we took off running to what would be like 8 blocks to Hermana Agustina's house. We showed up and asked "Hermana! Can we borrow your dog?!" She was super confused but willingly let us take Hatchy on a little walk to the church. Hatchy was so happy to get out of the house and go on a run. We got to the church and were the only ones truly successful. Elder Davis and Elder Pantuso just went a few blocks away and bought "Penguinos" haha I don't even know 100% what the purpose was but it showed us that if we work with members we can get investigators in the church! I took mi hija to Salto de Eyipantla! Only this time we also went and saw it on top! This week was pretty normal! I honestly don't have much to write - I feel like my weeks here in Jardin are great but then come Monday and I can't remember a thing to write. Hopefully this week my brain will work a little better.
Something cool this week was I had divisions with Hermana Ayala It was fun to work with her again! We had a great day and It was cool seeing the progress that I've had in just 2 months that I wasn't with her. The progress I've had personally. Something I really liked this week was what I learned in Church yesterday - one of the elders talked about how we need to look at people as they can become and not as they are now. I had read that talk before but it really helped me - and then later in the day we were visitng Arturo that got baptized a few weeks ago and his uncle came in and was a little drunk and crying begging us to help him to quit drinking and I just saw him with the eyes that the Savior would. I imagined him in a white shirt and tie with a calling in the church. - and we had a really powerful mini lesson with him. Who knows if he'll change right now but something I'm learning is that it doesn't matter if they change right this minute. Someday they will change. Someday they will be able to feel the powerful effects of the Savior's Atonemente. Sorry that I didn't write more - But I hope you all have a great week! Hermana Terry Amazing WeekThis week was amazing! It was amazing how every single day this week we found new investigators and people who actually had a true desire to learn and listen to us. People who are just so amazing! It makes me so excited every day to go out and teach them and find more people who are so willing to learn more and experiment on what we teach. It was such a great week - that I don't even know what to write! haha One of the best parts this week was working with some of the Recent Converts - we started looking at who could go to the temple and we thought of one hermano named Jose Garcia. We went to visit him and he was so excited! Then he started giving us references after references - and then he brought a friend to church. And then pulled us aside and asked us how to fill out the tithing slip. It was so great :) I love seeing the converts get excited about the gospel. Another great moment was when we went to visit Arturo who got baptized last week. And when we saw him we started talking about all the bad things that had happened to him after he met us - and I got worried thinking he was going to say something along the lines of " I don't want this anymore !" But then he just looked at us so sincerly and thanked us for sharing the gospel with him. He said that we showed up in the moment that he most needed it. And then he presented us with a friend - he was so excited too "Hermanas! You said you wanted people interested - he's interested!" In all honestly that's just part of the great things that happened this week...Something I've really learned is that God sometimes tests our pacience and he tests our faith but when we are faithful he helps us overcome whatever challenge that comes in our way. Thanks for your love and support! Hope you're all doing well! Hermana Terry A baptism of a joven that got to know all the hermanas because he's investigador of the STL's so we all came to his baptism haha And there I saw the Hermana Chopin! She's such a great hermana! I hope one day to work with her more! I loved being her STL Cleaning Arturo's store. This week in San AndresThis week here in San Andres was pretty great! We were pretty much running around the whole week trying to prepare two baptisms on different days and also do everything else we needed too! It was nontheless very busy. Very busy indeed. But really great! We had the baptism of Deniss and Arturo. We've been teaching them for awhile and they have both battled a lot of adversary and oposition that tried to do everything in it's power so that their baptisms wouldn't come but this week we were able to see them both come to pass :) Arturo's baptism was especially great - he was kind of nervous before but after he just told us of the biggest peace and burning in his chest. We sat down with him after to explain what he was feeling and he got so excited. He told us - now I KNOW that all of this is true. It was such a great day. In other news - I cut my hair. I just wanted to cut a tiny bit but somewhere along the line I think there was a miscomunication haha Oh well! I like my hair short too! The lady who cut I think got a little shocked when I said I hadn't cut it in more than a year and she went a little crazy with the scissors. Thanks for the extra love and prayers this week! Love you all and hope you have a great week! Hermana Terry Arturo's baptism - The change in how he was before and after haha Arturo is a really great guy! He's 30 years old and he told his mom one day that he seriously wanted to find a good religion. The next day we showed up at his store! One of the members sent us there to talk to him and from then on we started teaching him. He is really receptive and everything. But he literally has a mental problem remembering things. He would get so down on himself when we would come one day and comment something we had learned before and he had no idea! But little by little he was able to build his knowlege and his testimony. We really saw the importance of working with members too because we found some members that he knew and started involving them and from there he progressed and progressed even more. |
